Collaborative Singing Project Groups

An integral feature of HarbourVOICES! International Festival of Collective Singing Traditions is the inclusion of Collaborative Singing Projects, which provide a unique platform for singing groups/choirs seeking to engage in a collective experience that celebrates and honours shared singing traditions.

The purpose of these projects is to foster connections and harmonious interactions among participating groups. Groups participating in the Collaborative Singing Groups will have the opportunity to convene for two hours each afternoon.

During the first hour, the experience of singing together will emphasize a collaborative environment that encourages spontaneous singing without the expectation of pre-prepared music. During the second hour, Collaborative Singing Groups will have the opportunity to learn and prepare joint music for massed group performances during the HarbourSING! event and/or the Gala Concert.

Conditions of Participation

Festival Participation

All groups are required to participate in the entire Festival program (June 29 – July 4, 2024), including the Opening Ceremonies and the Gala Concert.

*Newfoundland & Labrador groups are strongly encouraged to participate in the entire Festival program but are not required to adhere strictly to this condition.

Travel & Accommodations

All groups are responsible for arranging and paying for travel to and from St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada (YYT).

Groups are responsible for arranging and paying for their own housing, meals, and transportation. HarbourVOICES! will provide all invited choirs with information about housing and dining opportunities in the St. John’s area. The Festival can assist in advising and organising housing, transportation, and meals. See optional supports below.

Participation Fees

10 people or less – $500.00
11-20 people – $750.00
21-30 people – $1,000.00
31-50 people – $1,250.00
50 people or more – $1,500.00

All fees are in Canadian Dollars (CAD) and are subject to a 15% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST).

*Newfoundland & Labrador groups are not required to pay a participation fee.

Participation Includes:

  • Collective/collaborative singing projects (2 hours/day)
  • HarbourSING! and/or Gala Concert events (optional)
  • Opening reception for conductors/group leaders
